| Principal's Welcome |
Welcome to our Peter Moyes Anglican Community School website, and thank you for your
interest in our remarkable school. I hope that you find our website informative and
easy to navigate. However, should any of your questions still remain unanswered please
feel free to contact us to ascertain that specific information.
Peter Moyes Anglican Community School is a school which has a wonderful ‘feel’ about it.
A visit to our campus would see this confirmed. The fact that this school has ‘something
different’ about it is instantly recognisable.
It is a school which believes that children should be given the utmost encouragement,
and that positive efforts should be highlighted.
We believe every young person has a right to achieve at his/her highest level in all
he/she attempts, and that these attempts and attainments should be valued and encouraged.
Each child is a unique individual, and we believe the task facing teachers and parents
is to work together to find each child’s areas of excellence, talents and attributes
and then support, motivate and encourage them to achieve their dreams. Some young
people seem almost to develop their God-given talents naturally, whilst others need
guidance and constant reassurance throughout the process.
In the area of pastoral care and discipline, Peter Moyes Anglican Community School
strives to be continually known in the community for possessing a caring culture and
having staff provide pastoral support to students and families.
High standards are expected in areas such as manners, speech, dress and appearance,
behaviour in the classroom and on the sports field, respect for the property of others
and in meeting responsibilities.
Essentially, the emphasis is on encouragement to meet these standards and on counselling
students who may experience difficulty in doing so. However, if a student displays
constant difficulty in meeting these expectations, sanctions will be imposed.
Overall, it is felt that the most effective approach to discipline within the School
rests firmly on the quality of the relationship, and understanding between staff and
students. Mutual respect and understanding are far more effective than an endless
list of school rules.
Peter Moyes Anglican Community School is a warm and friendly environment coupled with high
expectations. As we continually strive for excellence we want our school to be:
-
A school where everyone (staff, students, parents) wants to be;
-
A school of which everyone can be proud;
-
A community in which everyone is teaching and everyone is learning;
-
A school where everyone is encouraged to take risks with a safety net to protect
those who do;
-
A school that respects differences; differences of philosophy, culture, style and
passion;
-
A school for thinkers as well as doers;
-
A school that strives for high academic standards;
-
A school that strives for excellence in cultural and sporting pursuits;
-
A school that provides high quality care;
-
A school where everyone’s contribution is appreciated;
-
A school with a living understanding of Christian values;
-
A school of enjoyment and humour;
-
A school of friendship.
I trust you enjoy your visit to the website of our school. We believe that we can make a
difference in the lives of the young people entrusted to our care.
