Indonesian Trip

Thirteen Senior School students, along with Indonesian teachers ventured on the inaugural Peter Moyes Anglican Community School Malaysia Study Tour and spent 11 days in Sarawak (Borneo) and Kuala Lumpur (peninsular Malaysia). All the students commented on how the tour was thoroughly enjoyable and many wished they didn’t have to return so soon! It has also helped students to properly grasp a number of concepts (cultural and linguistic) that have been discussed in class. Students visited a plethora of different historical and cultural sites, spent two nights with the Iban people in a longhouse and ate a lot of rice, noodles and Malay food. After the success of this trip the Languages Department is excited with the possibility of future tours that can enhance our students’ understanding and engagement with the world and, specifically, our nearest neighbours. The next Tour is being planned for 2011.
