The School is seeking a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and innovative Speech Pathologist to join our School in 2025.

Working as part of the Learning Diversity Team, the Speech Pathologist will administer literacy and language assessments for students, as well as support the development and implementation of school-based intervention programmes for students with language, literacy and/or communication needs. Whilst the Speech Pathologist will work predominantly in Primary, there will be a Secondary School component to the role.

This position is 0.8 FTE part time role or full time, depending on the candidate, working during term time only, with minimal work from home administrative duties during school holidays.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Work within the Learning Diversity Team to plan, develop and implement student support.
  • Conduct assessments and diagnosis for DLD.
  • Provide support for Learning Diversity Team staff who are responsible for intervention for students with diagnosed Developmental Language Disorders or Language Disorders associated with biomedical conditions.
  • Promote evidence-based approaches for students.
  • Collaborate with Learning Diversity Team staff to ensure reasonable adjustments are afforded to students with a Language Disorder.
  • Case manage students with stand-alone Language Disorders and work collaboratively with the Learning Diversity staff and teachers to support the management of students with more complex diagnoses.
  • Develop and review documented plans for students diagnosed with a Developmental Language Disorder including the most appropriate reasonable adjustments, support strategies and individualised goals.
  • When required, administer early years screening assessments, speech pathology assessments and formally report assessment findings to parents/carers and relevant School stakeholders.
  • Liaise with external speech pathology providers and other therapists as and when required.
    Attend case conference meetings as and when required.
  • When required provide professional development and support for teaching and support staff.


Essential Selection Criteria 

  • Hold a Speech Pathology qualification from an accredited university.
  • Eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Exceptional quality pastoral care.
  • Knowledge of diverse learning needs.
  • Enthusiasm in developing young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate positive relationships with all stakeholders.

Desirable Selection Criteria

  • Previous experience working with school aged children.
  • Experience with using the CELF-5 & CELF-P3.
  • Previous experience working within a school setting
