Anglican Schools Ethos
Our School is a proud member of the Anglican Schools Commission system of schools. The Anglican Schools Commission was established in 1985, by the Perth Diocesan Synod of the Anglican Church of Australia, to provide Anglican families and others with ready access to affordable Christian education in the Anglican tradition.
The Anglican Schools Commission has six core values, and expects ASC Schools to promulgate these values and to instil them in their students, staff and wider School community. These foundation principles have been used to develop the ‘Vision, Values and Beliefs’ of our School.
- Faith: Living and teaching Gospel values and Anglican traditions
- Excellence: Pursuing high standards in all things
- Justice: Demonstrating fairness, compassion and conviction; advocating for the educationally disadvantaged
- Respect: Respecting self, others and our world
- Integrity: Acting with honesty and openness
- Diversity: Promoting social inclusion and celebrating difference
The Anglican Church of Australia has a tradition and history that is centuries old, being the Australian offshoot of the Anglican Church of England. The Anglican Church of England was formed out of the Celtic Christian Church of Britain and the Roman Catholic Church of Britain. It was seen as a very accepting and broad church that embraced both catholic and protestant reformation principles. These principles are: respect and veneration of sacred Scripture and its message of God’s boundless Love; respect and veneration of the sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist; the valuing of the three orders of ordained ministry – Bishop, Priest and Deacon; a respect for the tradition and history of the Christian Church; and the valuing of independent conscience and human reason.
