ACC ATHLETICS SQUAD PERFORMANCE – 4TH OVERALL

The ACC ‘A’’ Division Athletics Championships are a highlight of the year and the pinnacle of the School’s Sporting Calendar. I would like to congratulate and emphasise how well all of PMACS student athletes performed at the ACC ‘A’ Division Athletics Carnival held last week. The competition in ‘A’ Division is of an exceptionally high standard and it is rightfully highly competitive. To finish with the 4th Overall position is another fine achievement in only our fourth year in this Division; we certainly maintain our reputation as a force to be reckoned with!

All our students performed to the best of their abilities, many of whom attained Personal Best’s following the course of Term 3 training with some superb individual performances. The heart and spirit of our students were superb once again and our results come against schools that have significantly higher student populations than ours. All our student athletes exhibited our ACC core values of ‘Hardwork, Dedication and Ambition’ and the commitment, comradery, cohesiveness and spirit of our students were clearly evident to see from which we believe success results.

It was very pleasing to see the students take their coaches feedback seriously, conscientiously and listening to the guidance given; this was demonstrated by a number of the students tactically running, throwing and jumping.

The ACC Athletics Squad did themselves, their School, and their coaches proud and I am confident that with the culture within the Squad, we will be highly competitive once again in ‘A’ Division in 2019. We have now placed 4th Overall in ACC Athletics & 3rd Overall in ACC Cross Country this year amongst over 70 affiliated ACC Schools. We have also been named Champion Winter Coastal Associated School Sports School. We also won ACC Swimming to gain promotion to ‘B’ Division. A super year all round!

Overall School Scores

The School once again defeated a number of Schools which have been in this Division for some time. Notably, this result was also attained with the smallest School population in this Division.

The philosophy that has been reiterated to students is that “a champion team will always beat a team of individual champions” and this was highlighted at the ACC Athletics Squad briefing, photograph and BBQ the day before Carnival.

For most of the day the School battled for second or third position with Chisholm and Corpus Christi; however, a few ‘0’ scores recorded across the 230 events ultimately just placed us 4th by a mere 4 points which is still a superb result. Our 400m runners were especially successful at the end of the day.

When the ‘Virtual Carnival’ results are released which combine the results of the 77 ACC Schools, representing over 48,000 students, I am hopeful that the School will rank amongst the Top 5 Co-Educational Schools in Perth for Athletics with a number of students in contention for Sports Colours, Sports Honours, ACC Letters, or recommendation to compete at the WA All Schools Athletics Championships in Term 4 for their best event/s.

Every single student involved, whether they competed in one or five individual events or were a  member of a relay team or were a travelling reserve who was called upon or who were acting as a Student Marshall or a Sports Leader were all integral parts of the Squad and shared equal importance in the Squad’s success.
I am immensely proud of all ACC Athletics Squad members for their valued contributions; it has been a pleasure to coach our student athletes once again this year!
