On the first day of Term 2, the Primary, Middle and Senior Schools held their ANZAC Day Services.

The meaning of ANZAC Day changes for each generation. Our students gathered to remember those who have fought, helped and died in all wars throughout the world. They also were able to remember the families who have come to Australia as a direct result of wars, being families who have escaped horrific conditions to find freedom and peace in Australia.

As a School, we believe that the ANZAC story is an important part of Australia’s history. During the service, we talked about the meaning of ANZAC, who were the ‘Diggers’? why ANZAC biscuits came into being? and significance of the the Wreath Ceremony and the Last Post, the Minute silence and the Rouse. A student from every class placed a flower at by the wreath to honour the ANZAC spirit. Students prayed for our Defence forces and for those currently suffering in wars and conflict. The Primary Choir finished the Primary School service with the song, ‘When Will I See You?’ written by Mark Puddy.

On ANZAC Day itself, students and staff from the School continued our School’s fine tradition of participating in the Quinns Rocks RSL Sub-Branch Dawn Service.

It was a moment of great pride to see Mr, Justin Tonti, our Director of Music, receive a special award at the Service for his many years of work in co-ordinating the Choirs and Music at the Dawn Services.
