On behalf of the Peter Moyes Anglican Community School (PMACS) Council and the Anglican Schools Commission (Inc.), I am pleased and delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Ben Lomas to the position of Principal of PMACS effective 30th July 2018.

The recruitment process attracted a very large field of qualified and experienced candidates for this important role. Following the interview process, Mr Lomas emerged as the unanimous choice of the School Council.

Mr Lomas has a broad background in education and leadership. He joins us after spending the past 14 years at John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School (JSRACS), currently as their Deputy Principal (PK-12). Commencing as a Middle School Teacher in 2004, he first taught Social Science and Mathematics, before moving across to the Science Department in addition to teaching Health and Physical Education. Mr Lomas has held significant positions of responsibility within JSRACS, including four years as House Co-ordinator, six years as Assistant Principal of Middle School and a year as their Interim Principal in 2017.

During his time at JSRACS he has been an excellent ambassador for their School, representing them at state, national and international conferences, working tirelessly in the best interests of the School. Mr Lomas has made a significant contribution to the co-curricular life of JSRACS as manager of the First XI Cricket Team for the past 11 years, coach of several inter-school sports teams, including Soccer and Badminton, and through his involvement in international School trips.

As a reflective, approachable and enthusiastic educational leader, Mr Lomas has a strong desire to foster and support the continued growth of our School’s campus, curriculum and community. He has a hands-on, collaborative approach to working within a community, which has gained him the respect and admiration of his students and their families, fellow teachers and colleagues, and the wider educational community of Perth.

Mr Lomas’ passion for education is based on the belief that all children have the potential to excel when provided with the opportunity to do so. He is committed to maximising the range of academic, pastoral, spiritual and social opportunities for all students, to create a rich learning environment and positive School culture.

During July 2018, Mr Lomas will liaise with our Interim Principal, Mr Richard Alchin, regarding his transition into our School community. Mr Lomas is honoured to be given the opportunity to serve the PMACS community and build on the foundation and legacies established by previous Principals.

The expertise, enthusiasm and vision that Mr Lomas will bring to PMACS will ensure the School can look to the future with certainty, continuing to strengthen its position as a faith-based co-educational School serving the northern coastal corridor.

Over the coming months, opportunities will be provided to staff, students and parents to meet Mr Lomas before his commencement in late July.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Richard Alchin as Acting Principal for his excellent stewardship of the School since the departure of Mr Dowse at the end of 2017.  Mr Alchin’s very positive and strong contribution in overseeing the running of the School has been instrumental in maintaining the excellent delivery of the School’s educational and student programme.

The School Council is delighted to appoint Mr Lomas to PMACS and we are confident that you will join us in welcoming him on board as Principal.

Yours sincerely

Mr John Filippone
Chair of School Council
