The rain stayed away, the sky shone a mid-winter blue and all students were involved in celebrating Peter Moyes Day last Friday, at the end of the first week of Term Three. The day celebrates the life of Peter Moyes and the values of the School that is named in his honour.

At the start of the day the Kindergarten to Year 5 students had a Primary School Peter Moyes Day Assembly and the Year 6 to Year 12 students attended the Peter Moyes Day Service later in the day. The homily at the Service was delivered by Bishop Jeremy James, Associate Bishop of the Diocese of Perth.

At this Service the recipients of this year’s Peter Moyes Day Awards were announced. These awards are presented to a male and female student in each of the Primary, Middle and Senior Sub-Schools on the basis that the students exemplify Peter Moyes’ personal wish that students at the School demonstrate “personal excellence with compassion for others.”

The awards were presented to:

  • Primary School: Bronte Scaife and Brady Reynolds
  • Middle School: Nicole Bothma  and Andre Durrheim
  • Senior School: Banafseh Sheriff and Liam Van der Spuy

The large audience at the Service were wonderfully entertained by the PMACS Vocal Ensemble: Casey Garces- Year 8, Atidaishe Gohwa- Year 8, Georgia Jansen- Year 8, Brandon Orgill- Year 9 , Mia Wilkinson- Year 9, Roxana Sheriff- Year 11 and Benafsheh Sheriff- Year 12 under the direction of Antonietta D’Elia. Reprising their acapella performance of  Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” that won them the Acapella Ensemble Division at the recent Joondalup Eisteddfod, the performed superbly.

A range of activities involving students and staff were conducted throughout the afternoon on  a significant and important day for the School.
