Three team’s consisting of 8 students from each of Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 participated in the da Vinci Decathlon held at Wesley College in April. The da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition designed to challenge and stimulate the minds of school students. Students compete in teams of across 10 disciplines: engineering, mathematics and chess, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, philosophy, creative producers, cartography and general knowledge.

Students performed well in many tasks with some outstanding results:

  • Year 7s finished 10th Overall, whilst finishing 4th in Cartography and 5th in General knowledge.
  • Year 8s finished 20th overall, whilst finishing 5th in the Engineering task.
  • Year 9s finished 19th overall with an outstanding 2nd place in the ideation task.

  • Year 8: George Brice, Anya Coetzee, Jack Collins, Ryan Gilling, Isabella Henkel, Chloe Northmore, Laila Peacock, Brandon Reece.
  • Year 9: Conor Bennett, Thavisinh Chanthivong, Abigail Graham, William Hodgson, Amy MacDonald, Maria Machado, Louie Reglar, Caitlin Williams.

I would also like to thank Ms Priest and Ms Thompson who supported the Year 8 and 9 teams in their preparation for the event.
