Nine students from Years 9, 10 and 11 along with two teachers completed an excursion at Mornington Adventure Camp as part of their requirement towards achieving the Duke of Edinburgh  Bronze Award. The students completed five hours of preparation prior to the event to learn basic safety and camping skills, such as putting up tents and using portable gas burners for cooking.

The trip provided students an opportunity to put their newly acquired skills into practice. Students and teachers enjoyed the time with nature including the tranquillity of sleeping with intermittent sounds of rain hitting their tents and the vibrant call of kookaburras at sunrise. With the successful completion of this Award requirement, students can look forward towards their second adventurous journey currently scheduled towards the end of Term 1, 2018.

Special thanks to the following individuals for the invaluable support in ensuring the safe and successful completion of this activity:

  2. The Physical Education Department, and especially Mr Watkins, for supplying the equipment necessary for a safe and successful experience.
  3. Ms Mee and Mr Hendricks for volunteering to assist with managing and supervising the students during the excursion.
