At the start of Term Two, 24 of our Primary School students registered for the Children’s University programme. The Children’s University concept is relatively simple, it offers educational experiences for children aged between 7 and 14 years. The model supports our local educational and learning activity providers (including our School’s Co-Curricular programme, sports clubs, museum and galleries visits etc.) and has a strong emphasis on the ‘experience’ as a significant learning tool and acknowledges the value of the range of different learning experiences and environments in which our children can engage. All learning activities must have a link in some way to a university course e.g. Football club = sports engineering, physiotherapy, management, teaching, sciences etc. This programme recognises each child’s achievements by awarding them with a formal certificate and a graduation. Each child is issued with a Passport to Learning from the School where the hours of validated activity are recorded. For Term Four, 17 students graduated on the 13th November at Edith Cowan University at a formal Graduation afternoon.
