The warmth of spring greeted the 2nd Annual Primary School Science Fair on Wednesday 21st September. Over two days, students from Years 3 to 6 demonstrated a series of experiments for their peers. These students have been researching their given field and practising their craft to make the event a success. Experiments included making sherbert, an unbreakable balloon, The Egg Challenge, Mystery Microscopes, Dancing Oobleck and slime making to name a few.  Students capably demonstrated and taught peers the finer points of their given experiment.

Drones, droids and robots were the theme of the 2016 National Science Week. With this in mind, we incorporated technology and robots into this year’s fair. A new technology called Makey-Makey’s were wired through laptops to play pianos or video games in completely new ways and the BB8 robot was very popular, especially with the lower primary students.

The irreplaceable Miss Carter (MS/SS Lab Technician) always puts on a dazzling display with her exploding hydrogen balloons and endless assistance. Miss Sutherland led the way by exploding her first hydrogen balloon and keeping the Science Fair organised.

Many thanks to all the parent helpers who came and ably assisted our Primary School scientists. Thank you to Mr Wood and Miss Shimmings for their support throughout the Science Fair. We are already looking forward to next year’s Science Fair with the 2017 theme being….. Future Earth!
