The School is seeking a driven, enthusiastic and innovative Auditorium Manager to join our team in 2026. The role will oversee and lead the daily operations of our state of the art performance venue, the Allan Shaw Centre.

The Allan Shaw Centre is a dynamic, multi-purpose space that supports a range of School bookings, including services, assemblies, productions and exhibitions. Additionally, the venue is a sought after cultural hub within the northern corridor, regularly hosting large scale events including concerts, gala dinners, ceremonies and international dance competitions.

The successful applicant will be responsible for encouraging the use of the Allan Shaw Centre Auditorium within the School and its wider community and managing its day-to-day operations.

Reporting to the Business Manager, the key aspects of this role include the planning and production of all internal events, including lighting design and programming, sound, staging, multimedia and projection, and for promoting the hire of the centre amongst the wider community.

This ongoing position is a full-time role and involves working evening, late night and weekend work, with ‘Time Off in Lieu’ provided when required. Start date by negotiation.

Part time options will be considered for the right candidate.

Experience / Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a theatre environment or similar role
  • Previous experience working in a school setting (desirable)
  • Previous experience managing internal and external client event bookings
  • Experience of live sound mixing (preferably using the Allen and Heath SQ7 desk as well as analogue sound desks)
  • Conversant with the MA DOT2 lighting console
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate positive relationships with all stakeholders and capability to visualise and translate stakeholder ideas
  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively with all members of the School community and clients of the Allan Shaw Centre
  • Ability to successfully manage a number of diverse tasks in a pressurised environment, and must possess the ability to prioritise to meet deadlines
  • Highly developed communication, interpersonal, planning and organisational skills
  • Capable and competent financial, organisational and resource management skills and the capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills with the ability to successfully manage a number of diverse tasks in a busy school environment
  • Must be able to carry out auditorium duties which may include a certain amount of physical and sometimes heavy activities
  • Good keyboard and data input skills
  • Proficient in MS Office

Responsibilities 

School Use

  • Manage the daily schedule of the Auditorium
  • Maintain the Auditorium on a daily basis, in accordance with the maintenance schedule
  • Co-ordinate all auditorium bookings, including School Assemblies, incursions and Chapel Services
  • Liaise with staff as to their requirements for auditorium resources and support
  • Co-ordinate all technical activities for internal events
  • Oversee the use of all technical equipment, including audio, lighting, visual, and rigging
  • Liaise with Performing Arts regarding requirements for key events, including staging, sets and technical elements
  • Ensure the Auditorium operates in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to Occupational Health and Safety workplace regulations
  • Co-ordinate other functions held at the Auditorium including special events such as the Year 12 Valedictory Evening, End of Year Presentation Events and Peter Moyes Day Service
  • Co-ordinate technical support for other events occurring on campus, such as the annual Primary School Carols and Nativity, Remembrance Day Service and special services and outdoor events
Public Use


The Allan Shaw Centre is regularly used by external organisations for events such as Dance Performances, Citizenship Ceremonies, and as a flexible function space. External events are managed by an External Events Manager, who has similar responsibilities as they pertain to external clients. In relation to public use, and where there is overlap with external events, the Theatre Manager has the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain strong customer-relationships and coordinate with the External Events Manager to manage bookings
  • Co-ordinate all internal and external bookings activities for of the Auditorium
  • Liaise with the External Events Manager to facilitate event requirements, where there are potential school-based impacts
  • Liaise with the External Events Manager to respond to any damage to the centre by external clients and organise repairs
General 
  • Undertake market research and purchase equipment
  • Prepare an annual Expenditure Budget for the Auditorium
  • Co-ordinate and manage casual staff
  • Record all accidental injuries occurring to students or staff
  • Engage in professional development as part of continual professional ongoing learning
  • Report regularly to the Business Manager
  • Abide by the Staff Code of Conduct and other School policies
  • Other duties as required by the Principal

Please note that the position will involve frequent evening and weekend work.
