Earlier in the term, the Year 7s ventured into the CBD for the annual St George’s Cathedral Excursion. 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3 went on Tuesday 10th March (Week 6), while 7.4 and 7.5 went on Tuesday 17th March (Week 7). Each group set off at 8:30am and got to experience the wonder that is peak hour traffic in Perth! Once the Year 7s (finally) arrived at the Cathedral, they were greeted by Rae who organised the entire excursion. She welcomed us to St George’s and then everyone split into their groups for the day. Each group rotated through a variety of activity stations that taught them about different aspects of the Cathedral as well as St George himself. Students learned a parable about St George and the dragon; they had the opportunity to try on and learn about a variety of vestments; and everyone’s favourite – the bells! The Year 7s loved learning about the bells in the Bell Tower and having a go at ringing them – it takes a lot of effort!

Each group finished their excursion with a chapel service, which worked out well as Tuesday is our regular Chapel day at school! It was an interesting day and is a great introduction to Year 7 Christian and Religious Education. A big thank you to our parent volunteers who joined us on this excursion!
