The Middle and Senior School Inter-House Cross Country Carnivals took place on Friday 5th April. The course layout was different this year due to the construction of the School Chapel. This meant that the hill was not quite as challenging as in previous years but overall still a tough course to complete! The weather for the event was excellent and allowed the event to run smoothly. Blue Chip Timing system was used again to ensure all students received an instantaneous, accurate time. Moreover, offering a professional look with the use of individual numbers for students. The event did not disappoint and it was impressive to see the efforts and participation rates of students.

As with previous years, all Middle School students participated in their Year groups. Senior School students were selected to run in the Carnival Championship event. The remaining students from Senior School ran an inner loop track of 400m, earning a House point for each lap completed.

In the Middle School Carnival, victory went to Hollows House. In the Senior School Inter-House Carnival, victory went to Lingiari House.

Our Inter-House Cross Country Carnival will form the basis for selection at the Inter-School level, where Years 7 to 12 will compete in the School Sport WA State Trials. This will take place on: Friday 17th May, Week 3 of Term Two. The Associated and Catholic Colleges (ACC) Carnival will take place on Thursday 30th May, Week 5 of Term Two. Further details will follow regarding these Inter-School events.

Overall, I was very pleased with the Inter-House Cross Country events. I would like to say thank you to the Health and Physical Education Department for their efforts and support, all staff involved, parent helpers, and last but not least the students. I look forward to building upon this success next year.

Mr Drew Hall
Head of Health and Physical Education
