The Middle School Inter-House Swimming Carnival took place on 21st February 2019 and was a fantastic event with students, staff and parents all entering into the spirit of the occasion. This year saw the introduction of House chants which added a competitive atmosphere in the stands. The competition was fierce; however, Hollows House emerged as Overall House Champions for the second successive year by 2 points!

As with the Senior School House Swimming Carnival, all students competed in a minimum of one event and could choose to participate in the following:

  • 50m Freestyle
  • 50m Backstroke
  • 50m Butterfly
  • 50m Breaststroke
  • 100m Freestyle

Record Breakers

It is a great honour to break a record at any level. To have your talents recognised is an achievement and must give a sense of pride, and therefore a special mention must be given to the following students;

Year 8, Thomas Prowton (Florey House) broke 4 records:

  • 100m Freestyle, 1.02.62
  • 50m Freestyle, 27.78 This had stood for 10 years previously.
  • 50m Backstroke, 31.93 This had stood for 10 years previously.
  • 50m Breaststroke 36.62

Year 9, Charlotte Ericksen (Cuthbert House):

  • 100m Freestyle, 1.04.68
  • 50m Freestyle, 28.98
  • 50m Backstroke 34.33 This had stood for 9 years previously.

The running of the Carnival requires substantial work and cooperation from many people. I would like to thank the following for all their help and support in ensuring the smooth running and success of the Carnival:

  • The staff of the Health and Physical Education Department
  • All other PMACS staff involved
  • Parent helpers and spectators
  • Certificate II Sport and Recreation student helpers
  • Arena Joondalup (Venues West)
  • Wanneroo Trophy Shop
  • Beejay Buses

Congratulations again to Hollows House, the 2019 Middle School Swimming House Champions!

Mr Drew Hall
